He represented the school’s cricket team and graduated in 2009. That same year, his professional journey started with his selection in the Gauteng cricket team.

🌍 Transition from South Africa to New Zealand

After several years in the South African domestic circuit, including a stint with the Lions, Devon’s career saw ups and downs. Despite scoring a maiden double-century in 2017, he couldn’t make an impact in franchise-level cricket.

Frustrated but determined, Conway made a life-changing move to New Zealand in 2018 with his fiancée Kim Watson. To fully commit to the shift, he sold his belongings back in South Africa—fearing that material ties might lure him back if things didn’t go as planned.

  • Scoring a double-century against Otago in just his second Plunket Shield match.
  • Becoming the top run-scorer in the 2018–2019 Plunket Shield with 659 runs in 7 matches.
  • Leading again in the 2018–2019 Super Smash, scoring 363 runs in 9 matches.

This form established him as one of the most consistent performers in New Zealand’s domestic arena.
